Acknowledging the shift out of summer into cooler weather is always special for North Texans, but this year, St. Vincent's hosted a festival that celebrated the coming holiday season in style: family-style!
BY ST. VINCENT'S STAFF, OCTOBER 30, 2021
St. Vincent's Cathedral celebrated its 43rd annual Fall Family Festival and Chili Cook-off on the church grounds today in Bedford, TX. The event was open to all community members and it was a bright and happy time with friends and family in the perfect sunny weather.
The community walked from booth to booth to try various homemade chilis, cooked with love by people from around town. Conversations bustled with people complimenting chili recipes and sharing chili cooking strategies.
Children enjoyed jumping castles and sports games and ran around in costumes, having fun and laughing together.
Adults lounged in fold-out chairs, shared conversations, and sang along with the talented live cover band outside the cathedral.
The Daughters of the King stole the show with an entire interactive display with photo opportunities based on a Wizard of Oz theme.
We were honored to receive Bishop Ryan Reed and his family, who came to socialize and try out chili with the community. Also, many community members set up booths to sell local artisan products.
Thank you to all who came to share this wonderful celebration together, and a special thanks to Dean Mark Polley and staff, for putting together and managing such a memorable fall festival.
Hope to see y'all next year, and have a truly blessed holiday season.
ABOUT ST. VINCENT'S CATHEDRAL
St. Vincent's Cathedral is a warm, friendly, and active parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth, in the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone, and associated with the Anglican Church in North America. Visit us at our Website, on Facebook, and join us on Sunday for worship.
The parish was founded in 1955 and has worshiped on the present site since 1989. We have served as the pro-cathedral for the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth since 1995 and as the Cathedral since December 21, 2007. We provide traditional Anglican values in both our view of ministry and in our liturgical and pastoral style.
We worship in the Anglo-Catholic tradition, using The Book of Common Prayer (1979) and The Hymnal 1982. We are an affiliate parish of the American Anglican Council (AAC), a network of individuals, parishes, and specialized ministries who affirm Biblical authority and Christian orthodoxy within the Anglican Communion. The Cathedral Parish of St. Vincent was the site of the Inaugural Assembly of the Anglican Church in North America from June 22-25, 2009. On June 23, 2009, the Anglican Church in North America was officially constituted at St. Vincent's Cathedral, Bedford, Texas.
